The Red Pacu (Red-bellied Pacu, *Piaractus brachypomus*) is a freshwater fish native to the Amazon and Orinoco river basins in South America and belongs to the family Serrasalmidae. Although its appearance closely resembles that of the piranha, it has a gentle nature and is omnivorous, mainly feeding on plants and fruits. Its distinguishing features include a rounded body shape and a vivid red belly, making it a popular ornamental fish distributed worldwide. As it can grow to over 50 centimeters in length, a spacious tank and proper management are required for aquarium keeping. While often confused with piranhas, it poses little danger to humans and is instead known as a hardy and relatively easy-to-keep species.
